Question:

Why is “Native” the default white point for projector?

Answer:

“Native” is the default because your eye will easily adapt to the native white point of the projector.  This is because you are typically in a dimly lit room with no other frame of reference to easily compare with (like a printed image).  Choosing any white point other than “Native” will also reduce the brightness of the projector and this is not desirable when using a projector because brightness and contrast is already limited.
