X-Rite Announces DaVinci Resolve Support for Video ColorCheckers at NAB 2016

The Standard in Color Innovation, X-Rite Color Science Technology expands into The Filmmaking Market

Las Vegas, NV – NAB SHOW – April 18, 2016 – X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, with subsidiary Pantone (www.xrite.com) today announced that DaVinci Resolve, the industry’s leading professional non-linear editing and world class color correction system from Blackmagic Design, will support the X-Rite ColorChecker Video and ColorChecker Passport Video targets.

Invented in partnership with Hollywood studios, DaVinci has been the standard in post-production for more than 30-years. DaVinci is the world’s most trusted name in color and has been used on virtually all-Hollywood feature films, TV shows, episodic programs and more! DaVinci color correction is the difference that makes high-end work so breathtaking.

“From creative editing and multi-camera television production to high-end finishing and color correction, only DaVinci Resolve features the creative tools, compatibility, speed and legendary image quality you need to manage your entire workflow, which is why it is the number one solution used on Hollywood feature films,” states Grant Petty, CEO Blackmagic Design. “That’s why we look forward to supporting the new X-Rite ColorChecker Video Targets in DaVinci Resolve. Our customers will further benefit from automated color target matching to reduce correction time, save on post-production costs, improve overall color quality and adjust temperature issue variance between cameras and other color biases.”

The ColorCheckers developed by X-Rite Munsell Color celebrates 40th Anniversary this year of the Classic target as the standard in color innovation. The two new recently launched ColorChecker Video targets are the next logical ColorChecker line extension, giving filmmakers, cinematographers, colorists, editors, and videographers consistent, predictable and repeatable color results frame-to-frame, camera-to-camera. This is the first time an affordable color target solution has been specifically developed for the burgeoning video, independent filmmaker market. Production workflows become faster, color consistent and balanced.

“The new ColorChecker video products are a natural extension of our ColorChecker family used by photo, imaging professionals and enthusiasts alike for nearly 40-years,”states X-Rite Vice President of Product Marketing Chris Winczewski. “ColorChecker Video Targets with DaVinci Resolve removes guesswork from color balance in post-production, allowing filmmakers to feel confident they are achieving neutral color and an accurate starting point, which gives them more time to apply their unique creative look. The Blackmagic Design relationship further expands X-Rite’s commitment to filmmaking professionals.”
