When did you first understand the importance of color to the photographic process?
In my first years as graphic designer I ran into problems with some clients regarding color. After some research I tweaked my workflow so I can trust the colors I see and provide.

What is the most important aspect of color management that an aspiring photographer should know?
With the right tools and knowledge color management is not that hard. The most important aspect is, that you have to trust yourself what you see!

Give an example of the ways in which a solid knowledge of color management (or an accurate color environment) helped you – on a project? In a consultancy situation?
With retouching slight color shifts could easily ruin an image. But also with graphic work its crucial that you can see the outcome of your work in early stages and talk about “the right" colors with your client.

Why are you committed to using X-Rite products?
They are easy to use and professional in the same way. So they don’t hinder you - they support you!

How important are the latest color management tools in today’s industry?  Why?
The technologies used in todays industry are constantly evolving. So the tools that are setting a right standard and working base are important to go with this changes.

What does the (near) future hold for the photo industry, in your opinion? Do you think color management will be more or less important – why?
Color management will become easier to maintain. Simultaneous color management will become more and more important because the devices we all deliver to and see work on will change and the variety will increase. In that way they technology that helps us has to become more flexible.

How is color management related to your artistic process?
If you can’t trust what you see, you can’t deliver work that stands out. It’s important for your style to become memorable.

Do you see color management as an advantage for saving money?
Definitely! Because you don’t have to do proof rounds and other time and money consuming corrections. Trust what you see.
