Webinar Archive: Eddie Tapp on Creating a Gallery Quality Print from Capture to Edit to Print

5/3/2012 1:00 PM EDT

There are a handful of elements, processes and steps to take to create a Gallery-Quality photographic print. Join us for this free hour-long Live Video Presentation where we begin to explore the tools, tips and techniques to make sure that your final print is ready for the Gallery or for a prominent location in your client's space. Both Joe and Eddie will be live on set to answer your question during the broadcast.

We'll start with the initial photo shoot and discuss exposure, color, mood, lighting and posing using both ambient and studio lights. Before we go into software for our image edits, it will be critical to make sure our monitors are calibrated and profiled. One other decision we'll need to make is our paper choice for our final print. The paper you choose can have a big impact on the presentation of our print, so this is an important decision to make.

After the photo shoot, we'll then bring our images into Lightroom and discuss custom camera profiles and basic edits, before going into Photoshop for more complex actions. During our software edits, we also need to make sure that we have an accurate profile for our paper. Creating a custom profile insures the most accurate results, so that step will also be shown.

Lastly, it will be time to print. Soft-proofing in both Photoshop and Lightroom 4 will be discussed along with the effects of different rendering intents and how to make adjustments before printing. We'll then evaluate the print and decide it's final presentation including mounting and framing.

This presentation will be the first overview in a series as this subject has many facets. In future sessions we'll break down each step into more detail so that you can truly master the art of creating a Gallery Quality Print.
