-Calibrating the DTP20 "Pulse" spectrophotometer

Normally, the software application prompts for an instrument calibration when required. The frequency at which this occurs depends on the application.  The instrument can be calibrated manually (untethered) or by using the "ColorElite" application as outlined below.  If using another software application, please consult its user's guide for the proper calibration procedure.

Calibration can be done manually (untethered) by following these simple steps:

  1. With the instrument powered and in "Normal operation" mode (solid green indicator light), rapidly press the Operation button three times to enter "Clear memory" mode (solid blue indicator light).
  2. Rapidly press the Operation button thee more times to enter "Calibration" mode (yellow indicator light).
  3. Lift and rotate the calibration reference's protective cover to the side and out of the way.
  4. Make sure that the calibration reference is clean, dust-free, and not smudged.
  5. Position the instrument over the calibration reference on the Pathfinder guide.
  6. Holding the instrument steady, press and hold the Operation button to start calibration. The indicator will remain yellow until after the audible "beep" indicating a successful calibration.  Release the Operation button.

  7. The indicator turns solid green after a successful calibration. If the calibration fails (two red pulses), verify reference is clean and re-measure.

  8. Remove the instrument from the calibration reference and cover the reference.

IMPORTANT: The calibration reference is built into the Pathfinder Guide. It is important that the Pulse instrument and Pathfinder Guide that were shipped together remain together. If more than one system exists at your location, verify that the serial number on the instrument and Pathfinder guide match before calibration.

Calibration thru the "ColorElite" software:

  1. If a calibration is called for by the application, select the appropriate option to initiate the calibration.  In "ColorElite", select "Calibrate" in the "Pulse Info" window to open the "Pulse Calibration" window.

  2. Lift the protective cover off the calibration reference using the pull tab. Rotate the cover to the side to get it out of the way.

  3. Clean the calibration reference using a cotton swab or lint-free cloth if necessary.

  4. Position the instrument over the calibration reference on the Pathfinder guide.

  5. With the instrument powered and in "Normal operation" mode (solid green indicator light), select the "Calibrate" button in the "Pulse Calibration" window.  The indicator light pulses green during the calibration. The indicator then turns solid green after a successful calibration. If the calibration fails (two red pulses), verify reference is clean and re-measure.

  6. Remove the instrument from the calibration reference and cover the reference.
  7. The "Pulse Info" window will now indicate that the Pulse is calibrated.  This window can now be closed.
