-Printer Profiles - - RGB, CMYK, Extended Color Sets

Q: Using MonacoPROFILER v4.5. I have a new Best Color Proof XXL with an Epson 9600 with Ultrachrome photo ink set. I'm generating my own paper profiles and have a couple of questions. I see in the Output profile tab the ability to define extra channels above and beyond the CMYK. The Ultrachrome ink set has light cyan, light magenta and light black. Questions: Do I treat this as just a CMYK printer or do I need to define the channels for light cyan, light magenta and light black?

A: The Best RIP wants you to see CMYK data so this is how it should be profiled. The RIP will itself determine how to handle the crossover from light to regular ink during the base linearization process. IF the RIP allowed you to address the inks individually, then you could make a 7-color profile. With this device however it is not necessary.
