+Power Supply issues

Symptoms of a bad power supply

A defective power supply may cause the following symptoms:

  • measurement data are far off anything (i.e., colors read as pink or green instead of white)
  • instrument seems to work, but gives errors during calibration and measurements
  • transportation motor and/or filter wheel motor does not start
  • communication problems

Use only the Switching Power Supply (part number SE30-77) to power the instrument.  The SE30-77 requires a line cord.  Xrites part number for the appropiate line cord is SD33-07.

Power Supplies: The DTP41 Time-Out Error

There have been a number of problems reported related to the DTP41 and power supplies. The correct power supply is X-Rite P/N SE30-77.This is an autoswitching power supply that produces 2.5 amps @ 12 volts. In several instances, customers have tried to use lower-amperage alternatives. The most obvious effect of these low-power situations is an instrument time-out situation.

Here is a diagram of the appropriate cables that can be used on the DTP41.
