-OASIS Lite and the 310

Application : OASIS Lite
Vendor : Fuji Hunt
Platform : Windows 9x/Me/NT4/2000/XP
Version : v3.0 (Windows 9x/Me/NT4/2000/XP)
Cabling : 361-83 (cable) & 881-71 (25pin adaptor) or 881-91 (9pin adaptor)
Notes : OASIS Lite is a photographic QC package along the lines of Kodatel, QCNet, & WinDense. Uses the Kodak Advanced Technet RS232 protocol. To configure hardware & software, attach a null modem cable between the X-Rite and the PC. On the X-Rite set the following modes:
03 Auto print on
04 Auto time off
11 Technet enabled; CTS handshake
12 300 baud (1200 baud is erratic)
15 Advanced Technet mode (needs status filter info)
19 Shortened printer format (no channel information)
21 All fields on one line separated by spaces

In the Oasis software, the X-Rite 310 Densitometer must be "installed" on Oasis PRO by selecting the following options: System, Densitometer Setup, Password = "PRO", Select or Create X-Rite 310. Fill in the following parameters:
300 Baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, No parity
Transmission Status A: rgbv
Transmission Status M: cmyp
Reflection Status A: CMYP

Select FILE. Exit and re-enter Oasis in order for new config to be reloaded.
Oasis requires that the serial data be formatted as:

rxxx<sp>gxxx<sp>bxxx<sp><cr><lf>

Where:
rgb - are letters; defining the filter used
xxx - is the numeric data (no decimal point)
   <sp> - is a SPACE
   <cr> - is a CARRIAGE RETURN
   <lf> - is a LINE FEED

Some Oasis software provides fields in the densitometer setup section for RCI commands. If entered, the Oasis software can automatically select the appropriate filter set for measurements. The X-Rite 310 uses '0S', '1S', and '2S' to switch between (0) Transmission Status M, (1) Reflection Status A, and (2) Transmission Status A. Be aware that only three channels of data are used - RGB! To achieve this operator must manually select r, g, and b, by simultaneously pressing the appropriate keys on the densitometer (either the reflection head or the transmission - depending on media being measured). Also note, the 310 ties pin 4 (DSR) and 5 (CTS/BUSY) inputs together. In Technet mode (Mode 11 selected), CTS must be HIGH, driven by RTS from host. If your cable does not provide CTS/RTS handshake lines you will have to cut and jumper the X-Rite end of the cable. See Interfacing the X-Rite 310 to a PC under Related Support for more details. Kevin Spellissy (Fuji Field Tech Rep) has encountered at least one customer where Mode 10 was required - instead of Mode 11. These two modes (in part) control the handshaking method used by the 310. See the RS232 Interface Notes under Related Support for more details.
