Commercial Photographer, IN

Back in the early 1990s, while I was working as a Photography Assistant, I used to produce and supervise many offset print jobs. I worked with many leading Pre-Press and Printing houses in Mumbai. And there I learned the importance of Colour Management.

When I started doing digital photography in 2002, I realised that delivering a colour accurate image is key to the success of the campaign/project that I was shooting. It is extremely important for a Commercial Photographer to be aware of his workflow. I used to shoot lots of Saree and Kids wear campaigns which were colour dependant, making a colour managed workflow very important.

Digital capture and delivery has come a long way from a simple 2 Mpxl camera and 4 colour Desktop printing. Today’s cameras, printers and high-resolution monitors are immensely capable of delivering extremely high quality. But without the proper understanding and implementation of a colour managed digital workflow, you may not be able to take full advantage of the current developments.

Every aspiring photographer should know that if you don’t understand Colour Management, ‘you may not get what you see’.
