Sandra Bartocha

Reportage, Nature and Landscape Photographer, DE

Sandra Bartocha (*1980) is a freelance photographer who specializes in nature and travel photography for a variety of clients.

She grew up in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and as daughter of a photographer she got interested in photography quite early. While studying Media and English Literature at Potsdam University she worked as an assistant for a studio photographer but soon realized that this would not be her world.

Instead she concentrated on her passion for the outdoors and soon specialized in photographing local landscapes and nature; in particular coast lines, forests and flowers. Her main goal is to create images that interpret a scene in an artistic and aesthetic way to evoke emotions - rather than just documenting a scene.

In 2007 she became a full-time photographer and was elected vice president of the GDT (German Association of Wildlife Photographers). Since 2008 she is the chief editor of the magazine “GDT Forum Naturfotografie”.

She has successfully participated in international photo competitions like GDT EWPY, ASFERICO, Glanzlichter and has been awarded twice as overall-winner of the “100 Images of the Year – Competition” of the GfF (Society of Photography) in 2006 and 2007. Her images are exhibited as fine art prints throughout Europe – appear on postcards and calendars as well as in magazines dedicated to nature photography on a regular basis.
